High School Mathematics Teacher

HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER 

The ABA Mathematics Department has five full-time teachers in the High School who begin teaching courses at MYP4 (Grade 9). The department is highly collaborative and is very well resourced with both digital and physical resources for teaching and learning. We offer courses at a Standard and Extended level in Grade 9 & 10 and offer all four DP Mathematics courses in Grades 11 & 12. 

Position Overview

ABA seeks a Mathematics teacher with experience and current knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). 

The candidate is expected to become involved in the school’s life, including after-school activities, coaching and student mentoring. 

Responsibilities

• Create the conditions for students to make progress and achieve success
• Develop and build on strong, positive relationships with each student and their family
• Assess student understanding and progress, and provide useful feedback
• Ensure that the written curriculum is reflective of the taught curriculum
• Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to best support our students
• Role-model our school’s Mission, Vision and Values
• Understand and ensure school policies are reflected in practice.

Experiences

The successful candidate will:

• Have proven experience as a qualified Mathematics teacher
• Have an understanding of both the MYP and DP, and specific experience and knowledge relating to DP Higher Level Applications and Interpretation 
• Demonstrate a commitment to personal, professional learning and growth
• Have familiarity with the TI family of graphing calculators
• Be effective at meeting the needs of students of different abilities and needs through differentiation
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues with goals of doing what is best for student learning 
• Have enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning Mathematics
