Job overview
We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic educator to teach Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Individuals & Societies (INS) in our high school division at an international IB school. The successful candidate will inspire students to think critically, engage deeply with interdisciplinary concepts, and explore the interconnectedness of global issues. Key Responsibilities:
1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK):
- Deliver engaging TOK lessons in alignment with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum, encouraging students to question knowledge claims and develop critical thinking skills.
- Guide students through the TOK Essay and Exhibition, providing constructive feedback and support throughout the process.
2. Individuals & Societies (INS):
- Teach MYP Individuals & Societies subjects (e.g., history, geography, global politics, or economics), incorporating inquiry-based and interdisciplinary approaches.
- Foster students’ understanding of global and local issues, helping them develop research and analytical skills.
3. Curriculum Integration and Development:
- Plan and deliver lessons that align with IB frameworks, emphasizing inquiry, conceptual understanding, and global contexts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary units and integrate TOK connections into the INS curriculum.
4. Student Support and Assessment:
- Develop formative and summative assessments that align with IB standards, providing meaningful feedback to students.
- Support students in developing research, presentation, and critical thinking skills essential for academic success.
5. Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Actively participate in department meetings, planning sessions, and whole-school initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in IB education and subject-specific methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Philosophy, or a related field.
- Teaching certification and/or IB training in TOK and INS subjects (DP and MYP).
- Proven experience teaching high school students in TOK and/or INS subjects.
- Strong understanding of IB philosophy and assessment criteria will be beneficial.
