Job overview

We are looking to appoint an Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Fixed Term - 31.07.2023 who will play a key role delivering high quality teaching and learning across Early Years. The successful candidate will work with a team of experienced TAs and make effective use of resources in order to achieve the highest standards of learning and achievement. 


Reporting to the SLT Link:


Support for pupils


  • Plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or whole classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher
  •  Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning
  • Develop and implement Individual Development Plans for pupils (such as Individual Education Plans) including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews



Support for the teacher

 

  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with agreed programmes of work
  • Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records when required
  • Monitor and record pupils responses and learning achievements, drawing any problems which cannot be resolved to the attention of the teacher



Support for the curriculum

  • Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust lessons and work plans as appropriate within the agreed systems of supervision
  • Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies e.g., literacy, numeracy, early years recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use



Actual Salary - SCP20 - £22,493 - based on a full time equivalent of £28,371

Hours of work will be 33.5 per week for 39 weeks per year
