Role Overview

We’re seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our passionate team and make a meaningful impact on the academic, social, and emotional growth of our primary-aged students. You will be supporting learners in a progressive, dynamic environment where every child is encouraged to explore, innovate, and take ownership of their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Whole-Child Development: Assist students in their academic, social, and emotional growth by providing 1:1 and small group support. Your role will be vital in encouraging students’ creativity, resilience, and independence through project-based tasks and hands-on learning.
  • Collaborative Teaching Support: Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons across a variety of subjects. Provide tailored support to students, helping to differentiate instruction and ensuring all children’s needs are met.
  • Promote Inclusion and Wellbeing: Advocate for students’ emotional well-being by supporting their social interactions, building self-confidence, and encouraging positive peer relationships.
  • Encourage Independent Learning: Foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Help students take ownership of their learning through project-based activities that build their confidence and ability to solve real-world problems.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback. Work with the teaching team to set personalised goals, adapting learning plans to support each student’s needs.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and compassionate individual who thrives in a dynamic, ever-evolving educational environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Education: A solid background as a Teaching Assistant, with the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of primary-aged students.
  • Experience with SEND: Proven experience working with students who have Autism, Dyslexia, or other learning challenges, including those with social communication needs.
  • Behaviour Management: Skilled in managing challenging behaviours calmly and positively, using effective strategies for emotional regulation and development.
  • Emotional Support: Experience with emotional literacy programs such as ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) is highly desirable.
  • HLTA Status or Relevant Qualifications: While HLTA or teaching qualifications are preferred, relevant experience in working with primary-aged children is essential.
  • SEND Administration Knowledge: Familiarity with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and SEND-related administrative tasks is a plus.
