About the role

To support in the organisation and management of pupils and the classroom through providing cover for classes as required.

To work with the team in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.

To promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

To work with individuals and groups of pupils to deliver learning programmes

To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities

To assist with the general pastoral care of the pupils, including helping pupils who are unwell, distressed or unsettled.

To assist the pupils with personal needs as appropriate.

The role is 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks term time - fixed term for one year.

About Briar Hill Primary School

Briar Hill Primary and Nursery School is an 3-11 school, based in the town of Northampton. In May 2016 the school was judged as good by Ofsted. We are now on our way to outstanding as we have continued to ensure rapid progress is made to improve the quality of education for all pupils. 

Briar Hill is therefore seeking to recruit staff who will have high expectations of all pupils and will work with our skilled team to secure improved outcomes and life chances for the young people in our community. Driving this improvement is a commitment from leaders that teachers are the experts in their field and they should be enabled to teach well planned units of the curriculum, ensuring students acquire knowledge; without the distraction of unnecessary workload, excessive observation and scrutiny or low value administrative tasks.
