Job overview
The Royal Hospital School is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for 11-18 year olds, providing an outstanding, full and broad education enriched by a unique naval heritage and fit for the modern world.
Founded in 1712 in Greenwich, London, it moved to its spectacular site, set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside overlooking the River Stour, in 1933.
The School has continued to develop its spectacular purpose-built site and grow in size and reputation to become one of East Anglia's leading independent schools.
The Royal Hospital School has the following vacancy required for September 2025:
HOUSE PARENTS
This is an exciting opportunity for two House Parents to lead and manage a co-educational junior boarding and day house for Year 7 pupils. The Royal Hospital School has a strong boarding ethos and the house staff are pivotal in the welfare of the pupils as well as the day to day operation of the school.
The successful candidates will have an established record of working within a school and experience of providing pastoral support for pupils. Experience in a boarding house would be seen as beneficial as well as evidence of contributing to the academic, pastoral, moral and co-curricular development of young people in their care.
This is a co-ed house and therefore, due to the nature of the role and the setting, there is an occupational requirement for there to be one female and one male House Parent. There is one unit of accommodation so these two House Parent roles would usually suit a couple. We would be also willing to consider applications from individuals who would be willing to share the accommodation.
The role includes free substantial accommodation with heating and water included.
Closing date for applications: 09:00 on Monday 24 February 2025
Interviews will be held on Monday 3 & Tuesday 4 March 2025
Applications should be made online via TES following the ‘apply’ link. Please also send a covering letter to recruitment@royalhospitalschool.org
