HR Advisor

We’re Co-op Academy Brierley – a brand new special school in Leeds (LS9) and we’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic HR Advisor to join our team in September 2023.

As the lead HR professional in our brand new academy, you'll work closely with the Headteacher and Regional HR Manager to establish Brierley as an employer of choice in the area, leading on high-quality recruitment campaigns and moving forward ‘people issues’ in line with academy priorities and our Trust’s distinctive values and Ways of Being.  

Raising the profile of Human Resources through the provision of high-quality advice and guidance across the full range of HR activity, you’ll establish yourself as a key professional advisor in the academy, whilst at the same time embedding systems, policies and procedures and ensuring that they are underpinned and secured through robust quality assurance and feedback. As such, the role demands a colleague with real gravitas; someone who can effectively challenge, support and influence.

Previous experience of working in a unionised environment and providing pragmatic, creative and commercially focussed solutions across a range of ER casework is essential, as is CIPD accreditation and a sound knowledge of Employment Law and practice. Whilst HR experience or knowledge gained within an education or Local Authority setting/context would be desirable, applications are welcomed from individuals who can demonstrate an awareness of HR within education and an appetite to develop their skills in this sector.

Primarily based on-site during term-time, you will be a visible and professional presence at Brierley. In support of a healthy work-life balance, there are increased opportunities to work more flexibly and from home during school holiday/closure periods.

The opening of Co-op Academy Brierley will be delivered by a key team of incredibly talented individuals from across our Trust and partner organisations. It will initially be based in a brand new, purpose-built extension at our Co-op Academy Nightingale site (LS9) from September 2023, before moving to newly built, state of the art premises on Cross Green Lane (LS9). This new facility will provide an outstanding working and learning environment for our colleagues and young people and will sit within a wider site undergoing significant redevelopment by Leeds City Council.
