The School:

GEMS Metropole School, located in Motor City in Dubai, opened its doors in September 2014 and has continued to flourish and grow in student number and stature. The school is now open to students from FS1 to Year 11 and will continue to grow to become a full FS to Year 13 through school of 4200 students offering the National Curriculum for England. In such a small time, the school has become well-known for their key areas of success through the development of Engineering in Education and Health and Wellbeing as well as piloting the Skills in Schools initiative. In addition, the school has well-equipped classrooms, a highly competitive sports department, digital media rooms, innovation laboratories, dedicated science labs, music, art rooms and libraries. Most recently the school has completely overhauled its digital strategy to lay the foundations to further its position as a leader in associated technologies in the region. Students from our Foundation Stage classes have access to attractive indoor and outdoor learning areas, high-quality Information Technology provision, and most recently a special weekly visit to the STEAM laboratory, dedicated to students in the Early Years. In the Primary section, with the use of 1:1 technologies, students and teachers in the Primary section use iPads and interactive whiteboards to enhance learning opportunities where appropriate. About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Assistant for GEMS Metropole School, Motor City, Dubai. The HR Assistant would be supporting with the day to day operations of the Human Resources school office. Managing the administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs. Providing support and advice in the various human resources functions, which include recruitment, staffing, training and development and employee counseling.

The other job responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • To See all aspects of HR operations within the school, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and policy development.
  • Conducted thorough background checks, reference verifications, and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for new hires in compliance with Safer Recruitment Policy.
  • Manager Emiratization in school including sourcing, screening and Hiring candidates and monitoring the numbers required and fulfilling before time.
  • Work on NAFIS to source high quality talent and manage the whole employee lifecycle of Emiratis.
  • Manage employee relations, addressing grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution, while maintaining a supportive and positive work environment.
  • Implement HR policies and procedures, in alignment with statutory requirements and best practices to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Provide guidance and support to SLT and staff on HR-related matters, ensuring consistent and fair application of policies and procedures.
  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  • Recruitment for Support staff, TA/LSA, Admin and Arabic/Islamic teachers and sometimes overseas teachers as well, including sourcing through Sniperhire, screening candidates in line with Safer recruitment policy and hiring candidates on DAX.
  • Conduct induction (HR session) for TA/LSAs at the start of the AY year.
  • Manage booking flights for new joiners at the start of new AY. Handling all queries related to travel. Informing visa guidelines as well over sponsoring their dependents and insurance.
  • Deputize for HR Manager if and when required, managing the HR office with every day operation.
  • Being in charge of HR records and reports, including employee data, files, documentation, staff attendance, and payroll information.
  • Ensuring all employee for all categories are insured and managing all insurance related queries and liaising insurance broker and staff. 

Expected Experience:

• Experience working within Human Resources. 

• Knowledge in general HR office procedures, policies and methods.

• Experience working within school HR is desirable.

• Experienced in using MS Office and HR Systems.

 Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.

• Solid communication skills and attention to detail. 

• Able to multi task and cope with a degree of pressure at peak times.

• Advanced MS Excel skills will be an added advantage.
