Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Physics Teacher to join our dynamic faculty, teaching both the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of physics, develop problem-solving skills, and cultivate a love for scientific inquiry. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic and personal growth of globally minded learners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Delivery:

  • Teach Physics to MYP and DP students, designing lessons that align with IB curriculum standards and foster inquiry-based learning.
  • Cover key concepts such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and modern physics, emphasizing real-world applications.


2. Skill Development:

  • Guide students in developing critical thinking, research, and experimental skills, preparing them for success in Internal Assessments (IA), DP exams, and beyond.
  • Encourage scientific curiosity and independent exploration through hands-on experiments, investigations, and projects.


3. Assessment and Feedback:

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments that align with IB criteria, providing meaningful feedback to support student growth.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and providing additional support as needed.


4. Student Engagement:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes collaboration, inquiry, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Inspire students to appreciate the relevance of physics in everyday life and its role in addressing global challenges.


5. Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Work closely with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities within the IB framework.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on the latest advancements in physics education and IB best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physics, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and/or qualifications.
  • Proven experience teaching Physics at the secondary level, with familiarity with the IB curriculum and assessment standards.
  • Experience guiding students through DP Internal Assessments and Extended Essays in Physics is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of physics concepts, experimental techniques, and technology integration in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Creative and flexible approach to teaching, catering to the diverse needs of learners.
  • Commitment to the IB philosophy, emphasizing holistic education, international-mindedness, and lifelong learning.

International School of Tallinn (IST) was founded in 2016 and opened its doors in September 2017 to be a part of the ecosystem of Ülemiste City, the largest smart city in the Baltics.
