Job overview

  • Oversee DP Curriculum Delivery: Lead and manage the implementation of the DP curriculum across all subjects, ensuring alignment with IB standards and educational goals.
  • Facilitate Teacher Collaboration: Provide professional development and regular collaboration opportunities for DP teachers to share best practices, plan interdisciplinary units, and support student learning.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Track and analyze student performance data to ensure academic achievement and early intervention for students who may need additional support.
  • Ensure Alignment with IB Standards: Ensure that the DP curriculum and assessments meet the requirements set by the International Baccalaureate (IB), including planning, teaching, and evaluating according to DP principles.
  • Coordinate Assessments and Reporting: Oversee the implementation of formative and summative assessments, ensuring that assessments are consistent with DP guidelines and accurately reflect students' learning.
  • Provide Leadership and Support: Act as a resource and guide for teachers, students, and parents regarding DP requirements, philosophy, and practices.
  • Promote Interdisciplinary Learning: Foster and coordinate interdisciplinary teaching projects that encourage collaboration across different subject areas, enriching students’ understanding.
  • Lead Professional Development: Organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions for staff on DP pedagogy, assessment practices, and IB standards.
  • Maintain Communication with Stakeholders: Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and the broader school community to provide updates on student progress, curriculum changes, and school initiatives.
  • Promote International Mindedness: Encourage and integrate global perspectives and intercultural understanding throughout the DP curriculum, fostering international-mindedness in students.
  • Support the Development of Approaches to Learning (ATL): Guide students in developing skills for self-management, thinking, research, communication, and social interaction through DP frameworks.
  • Coordinate Student and Teacher Evaluations: Conduct regular evaluations of teaching effectiveness, student progress, and curriculum delivery to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support Transition from the IB Middle Years Programme to the Diploma Programme: Help guide students through the transition from the MYP to the DP, ensuring a seamless educational experience.
  • Coordinate and manage mock and IB world exams throughout the year and official IB dates.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date in a timely manner on IB platform to ensure students are registered for their IB world exams, assessments are submitted, etc.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education-related field or relevant subject matter area
  • 2-5 years of teaching experience at the relevant grade level and/or in the relevant subject area; International Baccalaureate experience an advantage as applicable
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Arabic proficiency an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with curriculum management and learning management applications
