About Inclusion Education 

Inclusion Education (working name of “Inclusion Hampshire”) supports young people within the local community who have special education (SEN) and mental health needs. It operates an Independent Special School in Basingstoke for young people aged 11-16, a college based in Hook for young people aged 16 and over and a Workplace Support Hub based in Basingstoke supporting those over the age of 18.

Working as a Teacher at Inclusion College you will be part of a close, supportive team working to teach and develop young people who have struggled to access education due to the mental ill health, anxiety and difficulties attending college through empathy, nurture, and patience. Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan and deliver personalised learning plans that address the specific needs and abilities of students with SEND Requirements – supported by resources and schemes of work  
  • Functional skills English and Maths, Personal Development, Vocational Options Entry Level to Level 2.  
  • There will be opportunities to share and pursue a professional area of interest, e.g. Computing, Hospitality, Creative Arts, or a recognised industry skill.  
  • Teach either individuals or small groups of students in a variety of subjects promoting independence of students through carefully planned lessons 
  • Lead on the development of schemes of work and long-term planning 
  • Mark and assess work 
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils  
  • Assess individual students personal and academic goals and targets and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils' needs  
  • Work closely and liaise with parents and guardians 
  • Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, college outings or sporting events 
  • Develop positive and nurturing relationships with learners inside and outside of the classroom order to support their social, emotional, and learning needs through the ‘Inclusion Way’ and a PACE approach. 
  • Work as part of a collaborative team of Tutors, Support Workers, Therapists & Counsellors to incorporate agreed strategies in supporting mental health and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)  
  • Maintain registers, evaluations, academic and SEND progress monitoring (and other records as necessary)  
  • Encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their own progress against targets 
  • Embody the Teacher’s Standards 


 Skills, Experience & Qualification Requirements  

Essential: 

  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)  
  • Has successful teaching background ideally in further education   
  • Knowledge of current further education issues in relation to terms of practise, process, and curriculum   
  • Be kind, nurturing and patient   
  • Resilient, hardworking and a collaborative team member 


Desirable: 

  • Be experienced in or have an interest in working within a SEN setting, that supports young people with mental health needs and SEN (e.g. depression, Autism)    
  • Knowledge of research in education, mental health, and young people   
  • Experience in a secondary or further education (FE) settings 
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies e.g. Social Care, SEN and Local Authority agencies
