Job overview
This role is to fulfil our requirement for an Interim Chief Executive Officer who shall be the lead employee for matters regarding the efficient, effective and compliant management of the charity.
The purpose of the role is:
- To provide strategic leadership of the charity setting out a roadmap of major goals for the next five years.
- To lead, develop and grow the charity, to ensure that it provides outstanding education and ensure its sustainability through the effective use of the charity’s resources and develop further opportunities to meet our charitable purpose.
- To investigate development opportunities with stakeholders, local authorities, schools. Department for Education (DfE), DWP and voluntary sector to identify opportunities for developing partnership working and increasing provision to meet local needs.
- To investigate resources to successfully execute strategic plans.
- To provide dynamic and professional leadership that builds upon change to secure continued success and improvement, ensuring high quality provision for all students, improved standards of achievement and better overall outcomes.
- To inspire, challenge, motivate and empower all members of the school communities to achieve the vision, aims and objectives of the charity.
The CEO is accountable to the charity, attending all meetings of the Stepping Stones school’s board of governors and advising the directors of the charity. All directors are governors of the school.
The role is initially an interim part time 0.6 secondment for a suitably experienced CEO for 12 months from the 1st January 2019.
The salary is competitive.
KEY DELIVERABLES IN FIRST 6 MONTHS
The successful candidate will focus on:
- Developing strategic plan for employability/post-16 hub for Stepping Stones and other local SEN schools incorporating any relevant programmes (e.g. Project SEARCH).
- Identifying and securing a post 16 site for the employability hub in Haslemere or nearby area and make fit for purpose for Stepping Stones and other local SEN schools
- Investigating strengths and weaknesses of different corporate structures for SEN schools – e.g. Independent vs Free Schools, vs Academies vs Federations.
