We are seeking someone who is a strong team player, hardworking and enthusiastic to join our excellent pastoral team. The successful candidate will be required to supervise, manage and co-ordinate the availability of learning resources, for students who are in our isolation room, while developing supportive relationships with them, teaching staff and parents.

We are therefore looking for someone who has a range of experience, skills and attributes and are highly motivated to work with our students to enable them to reflect upon and modify their behaviour.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to play a significant role in helping students to succeed by improving their behaviour, enabling them to successfully reintegrate into lessons. This role is suited to both a teacher and non-teacher.

What you’ll get in return?

You’ll be joining a school and Trust which is all about putting staff first – with numerous wellbeing initiatives and social events to enjoy each term!

  • Automatic enrolment to the West Yorkshire Pension Fund
  • Staff development through appraisal and CPD
  • Access to a canteen
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Great transport links – Honley Train Station is across the road
  • Free onsite car parking
  • Collaboration with Trust colleagues in similar roles

Working as part of a creative and supportive team who want the best for all of our students

What the role involves in a nutshell:

  • Co-ordinating internal isolations, liaising with parents, students and staff as necessary.
  • Supervising the Reset room, ensuring that students’ behaviour meets our high standards and expectations.
  • Providing work and resources that enable students to make progress while in Reset.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to facilitate their successful return to lessons.
  • Work closely with Heads of Year and the wider pastoral team.

If our school sounds like a place in which you could really make a difference, then we’d love to hear from you.

HOW TO APPLY

Could we be a good fit for each other? If you’d like a chat about the role, or a chance to visit the school ahead of making a formal application, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Please contact our Personal Assistant to the Senior Leadership Team, Nicola Pogmore via n.pogmore@honley.tlt.school

If you’re ready to take the plunge and apply, please complete our application form and return it to recruitment@tlt.school by the deadline.

SAFER RECRUITMENT

We are committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. All staff and volunteers are expected to behave in a way that supports this commitment and are subject to an enhanced DBS check. Please be aware that it is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. If you are shortlisted for interview, we will undertake an online public search in line with guidance from the Department for Education and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024.

Vision and Values

Central to everything we are working to achieve is the school vision. We are striving to create an exceptional school where all members of the school community:

  • Are proud of the school, respectful of each other, socially responsible, and believe in and promote our values
  • Work within an atmosphere of mutual support, respect and collaboration
  • Are committed to individual and collective success and place no ceiling on aspiration
  • Celebrate effort as well as achievement, take risks and learn from mistakes, recognising the intrinsic value of learning
  • Place the needs of the child at the centre of learning, nurture their creativity in overcoming the challenges of today and develop their resilience to address the uncertainties of tomorrow

The exceptional school that we will create will be founded upon the following beliefs:

  • We believe in fairness, equity and inclusion: we value every child for who they are and show compassion and understanding in our dealings with one another
  • We strive for excellence in everything we do: we have high aspirations for everyone and believe that children and adults thrive in a climate of praise, celebration and recognition. We always measure ourselves against the highest standards
  • We believe in working together to protect the interests and well-being of all members of our community

We value working in partnership with others and in September 2019 we joined with four other schools in Kirklees and Calderdale to form the Together Learning Trust. This multi-academy trust, which replaces our previous Co-operative Trust status, has been founded on the principles of Integrity, Creativity and Excellence. Our expectation is that by working together as a family of schools we will be able to provide even greater opportunities for our learners and greater access to professional development for our staff.  We are pleased that many of our previous Co-operative Trust partners agreed to transfer across to support this new venture and are continuing to work with us to develop our children into well-rounded and socially responsible young adults.

Ofsted report

“The systems to check the performance of teachers are thorough and clearly identify the skills that teachers need to strengthen. The school’s substantial programme for teachers’ professional development has assisted well in ensuring teaching is good. Support and training for subject leaders have helped them to contribute strongly to improving teaching and pupils’ outcomes.”
