We are looking for a highly motivated and pro-active Intervention and Enterprise Lead to work with students from Year 1 - Year 11.

This role involves working across all of our sites, currently in Ashington and Stannington, with potential to extend. This role may also involve home visits. Due to the travel involved, access to own vehicle is required.


Safeguarding Responsibility

  • To follow policies and other guidance relating to safeguarding and promotion of wellbeing of children and young people, in particular Keeping Children Safe in Education and School/Centre policies.


Core Responsibilities

Within your role of Intervention and Enterprise Lead, you will be required to teach a full timetable with a focus on academic intervention to identify and fill gaps in learning, whilst promoting career pathways and external visits.


Intervention Lead

As an Intervention Lead, you will lead the initial assessment process for all new students attending our settings. You will ensure that baseline assessments are carried out and recorded, and will ensure that outcomes are shared to appropriate staff. 

You will access progress monitoring records to identify any gaps in education. You will then ensure any gaps are filled through creation and implementation of short and long term academic interventions and keep all records associated with these up to date. You will report to an allocated Line Manager. 

  • To initially assess all new students
  • To assess current students to determine which interventions are to be implemented
  • To monitor and assess all academic intervention across the school sites
  • To ensure baseline assessments are carried out and information is shared with appropriate members of the staff team
  • To monitor progress and assessment and identify gaps in knowledge and skills
  • To create and implement short and long term intervention with entry and exit criteria
  • To delegate interventions to appropriate staff to deliver and ensure records of delivery and outcomes are kept
  • To provide training and support to all school staff in understanding of why interventions are used and required, how to refer for intervention and/or assessment, how to monitor intervention against entry and exit criteria, and how to deliver any delegated intervention


Enterprise Lead

As Enterprise Lead, you will support the school to source and implement a full calendar of out of school trips, school visitors, and activities and visits which promote career opportunities.

You will work with the students to ensure Career Pathways are discussed and understood from year 7 onwards, and source appropriate opportunities for children in line with their career aspirations. 

  • To source and implement a calendar of out of school trips, visitors, and activities which promote career opportunities
  • To complete Career Pathways with all students from Y7 upwards
  • To ensure risk assessments and research are carried out prior to any school visits or for visiting speakers.
  • To signpost students to appropriate agencies or advice 
  • To host an annual Enterprise Week across the school promoting career opportunities

Who are we looking for?

The staff member will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience working with children or families with SEN or challenging behaviours, preferably developing and leading interventions
  • Consider safeguarding an utmost priority and an ability to deal with safeguarding incidents swiftly and confidently
  • Be an excellent team player and actively promote a team ethos 
  • Have an understanding of the social and emotional issues which may face our students, and use trauma-informed strategies when delivering 
  • Provide simple instruction and positive support for all students
  • Follow our behaviour policy, and be capable of setting expectations and boundaries
  • Develop positive relationships with students based on our ethos of ‘connection before correction’
  • Ensure that all students are offered bespoke opportunities to learn and grow through differentiation
  • Promote equality and diversity
  • Set challenging academic targets
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues
  • Liaise with leadership team as appropriate to promote overall positive centre mental health and wellbeing
  • Support other teachers/tutors within the school/centre by acting as a coach and mentor to facilitate effective working relationships.


The team member will have excellent behaviour management skills. They will use a consistent, trauma-informed approach. They will be provided with opportunities to develop their own knowledge on mental health and trauma-informed teaching. They will promote a positive ethos of teamwork and support between staff members.

Working days: Monday- Friday term time only plus 5 days during school holidays

Working hours:  

40 hours per week

The core hours of the business are 8am – 6pm.  We require all staff to be in-centre for a minimum of the hours of 9am-3pm plus required training or meetings, but the additional duties can be completed throughout the core hours.
