Welcome from the Headteacher

Thank you for your interest in joining Allerton Grange School.

We are proud to be a large, inclusive, and rapidly improving school where positivity and high expectations sit at the heart of everything we do. Our students - of all backgrounds and abilities - thrive in a culture built on respect, ambition, and care. In 2025, we celebrated our best-ever outcomes, a testament to the relentless commitment of our staff and the strength of our school community.

With over 1700 students, including a vibrant and growing Sixth Form of 260 learners, Allerton Grange is a place where every individual is known, valued, and supported. Our newly opened Sixth Form Centre reflects our ambition to provide outstanding post-16 education in a modern, purpose-built environment.

Our success is driven by a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum underpinned by our four cornerstones: knowledge, literacy, aspirational enrichment, and social mobility. These principles guide our mission to ensure every student knows more, understands more, and experiences more, preparing them to succeed in life beyond school.

Staff well-being is a genuine priority at Allerton Grange. We believe that happy, supported staff create the conditions for students to flourish. Our team is collaborative, passionate, and proud to work here. We invest in professional development and foster a culture where innovation and improvement are encouraged and celebrated.

We are also proud of our inclusive ethos, with specialist provision for deaf and hearing-impaired students and support for visually impaired learners. Every student is cared for as an individual, and our safeguarding culture ensures that all feel safe, secure, and happy.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection praised our curriculum and our commitment to staff well-being. Inspectors noted that “staff feel valued and supported and proud to be working at Allerton Grange.”

If you are a motivated, knowledgeable professional who shares our belief in high standards, social justice, and the power of education to transform lives, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Warm regards,

About Allerton Grange

Allerton Grange is a large and rapidly improving school, where students of all backgrounds and abilities are happy and make positive progress. We currently have 1700 students, with an intake of 300 students each year in Year 7.

We have an impressive school building, with a newly opened Sixth Form Centre, housing our diverse community of 260 post-16 students. Allerton Grange is located 4 miles from Leeds City Centre in an attractive area of privately owned residential properties.

Our increasing success is due to our rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum supported by four cornerstones: knowledge, literacy, aspirational enrichment and social mobility. We have high expectations of our students and they are keen to succeed. We give them every opportunity to know more, understand more, experience more and access more.

Every student is cared for as an individual; staff work relentlessly to ensure our students are safe, secure and happy. We have resourced provision for deaf and hearing impaired students. We also have a number of visually impaired students.

Our latest Ofsted inspection recognised the quality of provision we provide. They were particularly impressed by our curriculum and focus on staff wellbeing.

Ofsted quotes 2025:

“There is a tangible sense of community and a celebration of diversity at Allerton Grange School. Teachers and pupils have strong relationships and show great respect for each other.”

“Pupils’ behaviour is excellent. They are attentive in lessons and move around the school site quietly and sensibly. Pupils are polite and well mannered. They are happy and have positive attitudes to learning.”

“Teachers have excellent subject knowledge. They deliver the curriculum consistently and revisit key concepts regularly. This helps pupils to know and remember more.”

“Useful leadership initiatives help develop pupils’ sense of responsibility. For example, pupil leaders organise events diligently that benefit others, such as an Easter egg hunt to raise money for a local hospice.”

“Leaders are effective and committed to further improving the school. Many staff comment on how happy they are. Staff morale is high. Staff appreciate the efforts that leaders have taken to reduce their workload and support their careers with high-quality training.”

At Allerton Grange, we challenge ourselves to continually improve and grow as a staff community. We welcome applications from motivated, knowledgeable people who align with our school ethos and strongly believe in social justice.
