Job Title: IT technician

Salary: Band F  SCP 12 – 17  £26,421 - £28,770 (as at 01/04/2024, pending pay award)

Reporting to: IT Systems Manager

 

Working hours: 36 hours a week, all year round. The post is permanent subject to a satisfactory references and probationary period.

Role Purpose: To contribute to the delivery of an effective IT support service throughout the school, responding to identified need and ensuring continuity of service for all users.

Key Responsibilities

·        Carries out routine IT support tasks as designated by line manager

·        To support the resolution of IT support issues ensuring all users are able to

return to normal operation as rapidly as possible

·        To undertake network tasks including the creating of and updating of student

           accounts

·        Assists in carrying out planned changes to the school system as required

·        Supporting staff and students in their use of IT – password resets, remote

           access, Wi-Fi connectivity, printers, projectors, email distribution lists

·        To perform routine tasks on the school’s IT equipment to include computers,

           printers and other peripherals

·        Carries out any scheduled works as directed

·        Carries out any routine checks and maintenance tasks on the system as

            directed

·        Helps to keep records of equipment and software at the site up to date

·        Identify equipment where there are issues requiring an upgrade or

            replacement

·        Support MIS system management and administration work, and liaise/consult

            with Council IT help desk as necessary to resolve system problems and issues.

·        Contributes to the planning for developing IT systems at the school as required

·        To interface with staff, suppliers, warranty calls

·        To ensure all IT working practices adhere to health and safety requirements

 

Other

·        Safeguard the integrity of all school data by ensuring the accurate input and

           audit, as required

·        Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child

           protection, health, safety, and security, confidentiality and data protection,

           reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

·        Positively promote the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable

            adults and ensure that it is recognised that safeguarding is everyone’s

           responsibility; and to engage in appropriate training and development

           opportunities which enhance an individual’s knowledge

·        Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.

·        Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.

·        Participate in training and other learning activities and performance

           development as required.

·        To carry out other duties commensurate within the grading of the post as may

            be required by the Headteacher.

Welcome to Wirral Grammar School for Girls. We have been a

Grammar School educating girls aged 11-18 since 1931 and now have just over 1200 students, 300 of them in the sixth form.

The school is proud of its history of academic success and our results are consistently high, well above the national average with 75% 9-7 grades at GCSE and 75% A*-B grades at A Level. The school has topped the local and national league tables for the past fifteen years. We have recently received an 'outstanding' judgement from Ofsted (December 2022).

The school offers an inclusive learning community, with the highest standards of teaching and learning, where there is a lively buzz of activity and curiosity in the classroom. Girls are also provided with an enrichment programme to extend their learning outside the classroom, through clubs/societies and various leadership opportunities.

We have always fostered traditional values, notably self-discipline, community spirit and thoughtfulness for others resulting in outstanding relationships at the school.
