Location:   St Helier Hospital / Orchard Hill College Centre Sutton, Surrey

 

Working Pattern:  36 hours per week, all year round

 

Orchard Hill College is an Outstanding Specialist College (Ofsted, November 2019) offering life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities. We have eight vibrant community-based College Centres across London and Surrey where committed, specialist teams deliver a range of programmes to meet the needs of over 400 students.

Students who study with us have a wide range of needs including profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties and specific medical needs. All students are individuals, and their learning programme is designed to support and empower them to achieve their aspirations and goals, whilst developing skills to become more independent members of their community.

Are you passionate about empowering and enabling students to get into the workplace?

We are looking for a personable, motivated professional to work closely with our students. The role requires a self-starter who can build excellent links with potential employers, while upskilling students with SEND or barriers to learning to support them on a supported internship programme.

Job Coaches proactively support our students to develop job searching skills, to access work rotations within a host business, and work experience placements to develop their functional English and maths, and ultimately, to progress into paid employment.

If you have experience of working effectively with students with SEND or barriers to learning and you have the drive and tenacity to establish networks with external stakeholders, we would love to hear from you.

A flexible approach to your role will be required to actively support our students, on a DFN Project search supported internship, who will be taking part in workplace rotations within a host business, and/or Work Start students who will attending external work placements, who are looking to progress into paid employment.
