Tes is supporting the appointment of a KS3 SEND Teacher to join a Independent School based in Ealing.

Starting Salary: £41,287 to £45,198 per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract: Permanent; Term time only

A fantastic and rewarding opportunity to help shape the lives of the most vulnerable young people with complex co-morbid needs and neurodiversity. The school is seeking a highly engaging, exceptional qualified teacher to provide high quality learning opportunities to Key Stage 3 pupils who have complex needs and neurodiversity. The teacher will be a SEND specialist, ideally with substantial experience with Autism, challenging behaviour and/or social & emotional mental health needs, able to teach across the curriculum using a primary model of teaching.

They support exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching them and had significant periods out of education.

The school is a Good rated day school specialising in the Arts, with all pupils encouraged to find and express their creativity and supported to achieve awards alongside traditional subjects

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding professionalism.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (holding QTS, QTLS or equivalent) with relevant SEND experience.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience in providing differentiated, engaging learning opportunities and therapeutic interventions for individuals and small classes with a variety of complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs & school avoidance, using a primary model of teaching.
  • Proven skills actively engaging young people with complex needs and neurodiversity, supporting their development in independence, healthy relationship building and emotional regulation.
  • Organised with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
