The Lead Nurse who takes on this role will bring expertise, leadership, and a student-focused approach to align and oversee the nursing services across our schools. This position will play a vital role in removing health-related barriers to learning, supporting students’ optimal wellness, supporting community education and outreach and enhancing the quality of health services.
The Lead Nurse will assume responsibility for supervising school nursing practices, supporting the development of Individual Health Plans, and ensuring compliance with professional standards of care. The role also involves mentoring school nursing staff, evaluating health trends, and collaborating with school leadership to improve student outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in public health nursing, community health, school health, or pediatric nursing. Experience in a supervisory role is an asset. Applicants should hold licensure from the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) in Qatar and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Ø Assumes responsibility for the oversight of appropriate assessments, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities for students in the school across QF.
Ø Makes day to day decisions regarding day-to-day operations of first aid/medical rooms that impact safety, quality and efficiency in the provision of student care.
Ø Responsible for direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school policies, professional standards of practice, physician’s orders, and the Individual Health Plan.
Ø Performs organizationally and nationally mandated tasks including, but not limited to, emergency care; child abuse reporting; communicable disease control, prevention and follow up.
Ø Provides for the promotion and maintenance of health as well as the prevention of illness and injuries. This facilitates the removal of health-related barriers to learning and promotes an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
Ø Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students and trends across QF Schools.
Ø Maintains, protects, and manages confidential electronic and written student health records.
Ø Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals, and objectives for the QF schools.
Ø Develops and implements student health plans; interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel; and initiates referrals to parents, school personnel, or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow through.
Ø Supports the selection, development and retention of all school nursing staff.
Ø Promotes a quality learning environment for school nurses through mentorship, modelling student experience principles and identifies opportunities to improve the student experience.
Ø Collaborates with school leadership in the response and resolution of student and family feedback and leads on initiatives to enhance and optimize the student and family experience.
Ø Provides ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies; and utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
Ø Evaluates the appropriate level of care for students with specialized health care needs and trains, monitors, and supervises licensed and unlicensed staff.
Ø Develops curriculum and assists in the delivery of comprehensive health education to students.
Ø Participates in health education directly and indirectly for the improvement of health by teaching persons to become more informed about and assume greater responsibility of their own health.
Ø Serves as a resource person to the school staff members in health instruction.
Ø Where applicable, participates in the IEP plan development.
Ø Administers routine and emergency medications, and trains and supervises school staff in assisting students with same.
Ø Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.
