Outwood Academy Ormesby places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. You will have the desire to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First, raising standards and transforming lives’.

We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of education within a safe, caring and positive ethos. We endeavour to make our students' learning as exciting and enjoyable as we can. We work to enable our students to become successful learners, to achieve the best they can in order to prepare them for life in the local and worldwide community.

As a Learning Manager, you must have the ability to work with students and have a real interest in the issues faced by the students. You will monitor and support all students in the year group, both academically and behaviourally. You will work closely with the Inclusion Co-coordinator and the Leadership Team on improving student behaviour, attendance and outcomes. Day to day, you will work with students to help them to be the best they can be.

The successful candidate must be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and be able to lead by example are essential. You will be required to deal with students, parents and outside agencies in a professional, prompt and confidential manner.

The hours of this position are 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, working 7.5 hours per day Monday to Thursday and 7 hours on a Friday, term time only plus 15 days. This is a temporary post for one year.

If you genuinely love working with children, will go above and beyond for our young people and want to work as part of an inspirational and dynamic team then we would love to hear from you.

We are an 11-16 academy based in the large, north-east town of Middlesbrough.

The academy received a good judgement in their 2017 Ofsted inspection. However in July 2022 the academy was given a notice to improve judgement. Leadership has significantly changed and a comprehensive improvement plan has been implemented to secure sustainable long term change for the academy. It is an exciting time to join the academy’s committed team and join them on this important improvement journey.

Taking a holistic approach to education, valuing vocational, practical, creative, and academic qualities equally, we believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally. We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
