Job overview
Who we are:
LIBERTY TRUST is a small but growing Academy Trust, established in 2022, of 3 special schools who are all committed to enhancing the educational experience of all autistic children and young people. Our core values are courage, determination and teamwork.
About the school:
We are a forward-thinking Autism Specific Specialist Free School.
The LIBERTY TRUST is in partnership with Lambeth Local Authority who established a special free school (Vanguard School) for autistic pupils. The school opened in January 2020 in fantastic purpose-built facilities. Vanguard school is an extremely popular 11-19 school looking to build a strong reputation and foster local links.
All LIBERTY TRUST schools follow our Quality of life (QoL) Framework. Our QoL framework is built on out trust’s position that parents and young people need to be full participants in decision making and that we should be working together to support autistic young people to live the lives they want as they move towards adulthood.
LIBERTY TRUST currently includes two other free schools, Church Lawton School & Thames Valley School. The school works to maximise standards, curriculum offer, training and employment opportunities. This role will enable you to influence & contribute to the future of the LIBERTY TRUST schools.
Who we are looking for:
Are you looking for a post that will be exciting, professionally demanding, stimulating and rewarding in (usually) equal measures?
Do you have a sense of humour? Are you naturally resilient and a team player who can work collaboratively in a multi professional team?
If you have genuine passion, an area of specialism and enthusiasm for making a difference and bringing positive change, we want to hear from you.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a real commitment to the education of children with autism and ideally have a proven track record of supporting learners whose needs lie on the autism spectrum.
You will be required to:
Promote both the school’s aims positively, and support effective strategies to enhance motivation and morale.
Help create a distinctive culture and philosophy so that from the moment a person enters the building they will know this is a school where pupils are respected, achieve beyond what is expected, are empowered to make positive choices about their own lives and have rich and varied experiences.
Being a Learning Mentor takes bravery, patience and commitment; but working in Vanguard School gives so much more in return.
If you have any questions about the role please email: recruitment@vanguardschool.org.uk
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The role is subject to references and an enhanced DBS Check.
We are an equal opportunities employer.
