Job overview

The Role:

You will be integral to our Supported Learning service providing essential support to individual students with learning difficulties/disabilities. There are multiple roles available and we are happy to discuss flexible working in regards to the role.

Please note our academic year for New City College for term time only staff is 19th August 2024 - 11th July 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 in class support and whole assistance
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of support for a variety of subjects and for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Support progress and attainment of learners with additional SEND/EHCPS to achieve success on their course of study.
  • Provide personal care for students who require it.
  • Provide sensory support to facilitate full access to the curriculum for DPH/VI/MSI students through direct and indirect support.

Who You Are:

  • A committed and experienced Learning Support Assistant with learners with SEND
  • Level 2 in Functional Skills Maths and English or equivalent
  • An excellent communicator and team player, eager to contribute to a multidisciplinary educational approach.

As the College supports a number of children and vulnerable adults, all staff are exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Accordingly, all staff will be subject to an ‘Enhanced’ DBS (formerly CRB) check, along with a Children’s Barred List check if in regulated activity. Any offers of appointment may be withdrawn if these checks prove to be unsatisfactory to the College. Self-disclosure will be required as part of the recruitment process. Welcome to our Redbridge campuses. We have two campuses in Redbridge – at Chadwell Heath, near to the King George Hospital and at International House, in Ilford town centre.

Students at Redbridge can choose to study a range of vocational qualifications such as BTECs for instance. All of our courses are designed to prepare you for future careers and we have created a realistic business environment for 16-18s, which gives you the chance to work in college businesses, gaining real life experience of your chosen career pathway.
