Job overview

We are one of the highest performing colleges nationally on all courses at all levels, rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’.

We are looking for a vibrant and committed lecturer with the ability to inspire students and maintain excellent working relationships in a successful Automotive team.

The successful applicant will have at least five years industry experience and recognised trade qualifications, provide high quality teaching, ideally hold a relevant teaching qualification, and have a commitment to the delivery of an outstanding learning experience to our students. The ability to offer flexibility across courses within the department is also important.

Candidates will be expected to teach a range of courses within the Automotive department including level 1 and level 2 full-time students studying the IMI Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance. Ideally, although not essentially, the candidate would also be comfortable teaching light vehicle apprentices up to level 3. The department also conducts industry training such as MOT Tester and Electric Vehicle (L3 and L4); it would not be expected that the candidate will teach on these programmes, but if they have experience in this area then it may help. Previous experience of teaching Motor Vehicle is desirable. As well as teaching, the successful candidate will also have responsibility for a tutor group. Applications will also be considered with no prior teaching experience, although a willingness to complete the initial teacher training qualification would be expected.

*Salary as advertised is based on a qualified lecturer. Non-qualified applicants will be considered but will be paid on a non-qualified lecturer scale.

We offer a generous package with benefits including 40 days annual leave plus bank holidays and College closure days, teacher pension scheme, relocation package, free on-site parking and a variety of on-site benefits and discounts.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 4 November 2024.

Curriculum Vitae are not accepted, Application Forms only.

We will be interviewing as and when we receive suitable applications so this role may close sooner than advertised.

Successful candidates will be notified within four weeks of the closing date.

Truro and Penwith College is an Equal Opportunities Employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record (DBS) check and past employment checks.
