Uppingham School Sports Centre (USSC) is looking for an individual with exceptional customer service skills and leisure industry experience to join us as a Leisure Centre Duty Manager.

USSC serves both the public, boasting around 1,300 members, and the school community. Praised by Lord Coe as ‘world class’, USSC features cutting-edge facilities, meeting the needs of the school's students and the wider community.

In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day management of USSC, delivering an exceptional customer service experience to staff, students and members of the public. You will also ensure the safe and smooth operation of the facilities, including the supervision of the leisure team.

Your key duties will include:

  • Providing information and assistance to customers 
  • Maintaining the security of the building and its facilities
  • Managing the membership sales process, including promoting activity schemes and sale promotions 
  • Conducting cash reconciliations with reception staff
  • Ensuring a strict adherence to health and safety policies

You will be a calm, confident and approachable individual, who is adept at dealing with people. You will need to possess a first aid qualification, along with a National Pool Lifeguard qualification or the willingness to obtain these qualifications within a reasonable period. You will provide experience of working within the leisure industry, as well as experience of staff supervision and working as part of a team. 

This is a full-time role, working an average of 40 hours per week, on a rolling rota to cover USSC opening hours. USSC is open from 07:00 am to 10:00pm Monday to Friday, 08:00am to 06:00pm on Saturday and 08:00am to 10:00pm on Sunday.

Uppingham School is a mixed, Church of England independent secondary school with sixth form and boarding, located in Leicestershire. The secondary school, situated in Uppingham has approximately 791 students on record.

Uppingham School was founded in 1584, originally as a school for boys. In 1975 girls were admitted, and it became fully co-educational as of 2001. The majority of students attending the secondary school are boarders.
