We are looking for a qualified librarian to manage, develop and promote the school library and learning resource centre. This is a whole school role and the ideal position for a candidate who will maintain the library’s position at the heart of learning in the school and is keen to promote a passion for reading across all the primary, secondary and sixth form phases. The candidate will have an enthusiasm and passion for reading and books and will inspire our students, actively raising literacy levels through bespoke interventions, and promoting book groups and national events. The role of the librarian is central to our whole school experience.

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms.  There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.
