Due to the relocation of our current Librarian we are seeking to appoint a new but equally ambitious and innovative Librarian to our school.

Kesteven and  Sleaford High School is a high achieving girls’ selective academy. The school currently has 733 pupils in Years 7-13 and works collaboratively as part of the Sleaford Joint Sixth Form. This means that students in Years 12 and 13 from the two other school sites visit the school for lessons and extra-curricular and enrichment activities. The size of the school means it is easy to get to know students across year groups well, but also for the school to be a vibrant and active community responsive to new ideas and opportunities.

The Library is a popular and welcoming space and students in all year groups use the Library for a range of reasons making it busy throughout the day. Sixth Form students enjoy the quiet working area, staff bring their classes to access the IT facilities and all Year 7 students have a fortnightly Library lesson.

Students at the school are avid readers and a student Librarian team help manage book selection and withdrawal at break and lunchtimes. We use new technologies to promote e-reading access and run regular popular events in the Library to engage pupils in all aspects of literacy.

The Library is currently open all day and we plan to extend its use after school for homework support and IT access for students. There is real scope in this role for making it your own and introducing innovative learning experiences for students. We welcome someone with energy and commitment to do just that.

Applicants are very welcome to come and visit the school prior to application.

How to apply: Please return the Support Staff application form available on our website: www.kshs.uk  to Mrs H Gill, PA to the Headteacher (email: helen.gill@kshs.uk).

Please attach a letter of application (of no more than 2 sides of A4) and please explain:

• The reason for your interest;

• Your relevant track record that confirms you could fulfil the expectations of the role.

Closing Date: Monday 5 February 2018 (noon)

We reserve the right to interview candidates prior to the closing date.

As part of the Robert Carre Trust we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo enhanced DBS checks.

Ofsted

The latest visit from Ofsted was in the form of a short Inspection on the 14th November 2017 to check whether KSHS was still delivering a good standard of education and that safeguarding in the school remains effective.

The Inspection Team found the school to be a ‘Good’ school. It commented on the ‘strong sense of purpose and togetherness’ and the fact that Governors and Staff all feel ‘empowered’ and ‘accountable for student achievement’. The Inspection Team went out of their way to comment on the collegiate atmosphere amongst Staff in the school and the strong and productive relationships they had with students. The Inspection Team also commended the students as articulate, engaged and ambitious learners.
