SGS College have an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our dynamic and vibrant LibraryPlus team at our Stroud campus. The successful applicant will need to work flexibly within the team whilst providing a high-quality service to students and staff.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and effective operation of the library information desk within the LibraryPlus space and deal with a wide range of library duties including: issuing books and resources, dealing with enquiries, reservations, information retrieval and shelving
  • Assist in the maintenance and ordering of new materials and resources, making sure they are actively promoted with staff and students
  • Be responsible for the day to day operational running of the Library and play a proactive role in supporting learners, helping them to achieve their potential.
  • Help colleagues to support learners through digital and study skills programmes and play a key role in communicating effectively with all staff, including managers.


Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Have experience of working in a library or Learning Resource Centre (or would be interested in pursuing a career in the field of library and information management).
  • Minimum 4 GCSEs or NVQ level 2
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 applications and working successfully as part of a team.
  • Customer focused with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Work without supervision with a very organised approach within a small team setting.
