Haberdashers’ Adams is a selective state grammar school with academy status situated in the small market town of Newport in rural Shropshire. It is a boy’s school with co-educational Sixth Form although it will become co-educational in Year 7 from September 2024, taking approximately 30 girls into year 7. There are five forms of entry and currently about 1050 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 370 students of whom about 120 are girls.

We are looking to recruit an efficient and self motivated Library Assistant to work alongside our Librarian, providing cover in their absence and assisting the students with library related requests.

You will play an integral part in the day to day running of the Library, issue and discharge books / library resources and supervise lunchtime clubs. Previous experience of working in an educational setting or library would be advantageous but not essential. Please see the attached Job Description for full details of the role.

The role is 18 hours per week, spread over 5 afternoons, term-time only.

Salary - Actual annual salary £9,515-£9,786 - Dependent on experience. (FTE £23,601-£24,274)

Haberdashers' Adams (formerly Adams' Grammar School) is a co-ed selective state grammar school in the market town of Newport, Shropshire. Founded in 1656, the School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 as day pupils, with boarding for boys.

Entrance to the School is highly competitive. The most common points of entry are via an 11+ examination for Year 7, or following GCSE exam results. Former pupils of the school are known as Old Novaportans.
