Job overview

Doha Academy is a growing group of British-curriculum schools situated in Qatar’s cosmopolitan and vibrant capital city Doha. Part of the Al Faleh Educational Holding Group, Doha Academy seeks to provide an outstanding, accessible and all-inclusive K-12 education based upon Islamic values.

All Doha Academy schools are nationally and internationally accredited, and are in the process of preparing for the next stage of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (“NEASC”) improvement cycle as part of their “ACE Learning” pathway.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Literacy Lead who will teach Secondary English in the main campus, Al Waab, and spend a significant proportion of their time planning a literacy development programme for the schools to support students whose main first language is Arabic. The role will involve supporting other teachers in their development of English as a Second Language practices across the school’s curricula.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience teaching Key Stage 3, 4 or 5 English in an international school setting where children’s main language is not English. Experience also in TEFL-type settings would be advantage.

The position starts August 25th with a two-year fixed term contract, with great opportunities for the successful candidate to grow and develop within the group.

We also offer:

  • A tax-free, competitive salary;
  • Annual return flight to your home country;
  • Free bus transportation to and from school;
  • Fully furnished apartment and on-site security;
  • Medical cover.
  • Two-year renewable contract
  • End of service gratuity.

Married teaching couples are very welcome to apply. We do recruit NQTs (ECTs), although we do not currently provide the ECT support program.

Ideal candidates will be:

  • Passionate about their subject and how it is best taught;
  • Determined to support the needs of all students;
  • Adaptable to life abroad, and resilient;
  • Positive team players;
  • Culturally respectful and sensitive;
  • Committed to their own professional development.
