ACS International Schools Cobham is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our Lower School teaching team in the Early Childhood Village to support a student 1:1, for an immediate or January start.
Overall Job Purpose:
- Assist the pupil with SEND requirements to help them succeed in their learning environment
- Support with academic, behavioural and social development while adhering to the IEP as established by the school.
Main Responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Provide direct assistance with completing academic tasks, including classroom activities, assignments, and tests
- Implement strategies and interventions outlined in the student’s IEP to support their goals
- Assist the student in developing social skills and appropriate behaviour in a school setting
- Provide personal care assistance if required, including mobility support, toileting, and feeding as outlined in the student’s IEP
- Maintain regular communication with the student’s parents, teachers, and SEN staff to provide updates on the student’s progress and address any issues or concerns.
Classroom Assistance:
- Ensure the student’s safety and well-being throughout the school day
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to create a supportive learning environment tailored to students’ needs
- Monitor and document the student’s progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the appropriate school staff.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Relevant experience with children, nursery to KG (ages 4- 6 preferably)
- Basic computer skills.

- Demonstrate appropriate initiative and accept change with flexibility
- Be able to effectively communicate, observing confidentiality as appropriate
- Display enthusiasm for working with childrenInteract positively and respectfully with parents and colleagues
- Demonstrate an ability to reflect on own professional performance and impact on student learning
- Project a positive and professional ethos with a mature approach.
Start date: ASAP/January 2025
Working hours: Monday – Friday, term time only
Location: ACS Cobham, Surrey, KT11 1BL. Sponsorship is not possible for this role therefore candidates must already be in the UK
