Plashet School is a girls-only, comprehensive (secondary), non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school and will provide 1,500 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The history of Plashet School dates back to 1932 when East Ham Grammar School for Girls opened on what is now the school's south site. The north site was built in the 1950s and housed the Plashet County Secondary Modern School for Girls. In 1972, the two schools amalgamated into Plashet School, and in 2000 they were finally physically linked by the Unity Bridge.

Values and Vision

Plashet School recognises that 11-16 is an important stage in its students’ development. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that gives the pupils a strong academic grounding, as well as focusing on the importance of values such as confidence and respect for different cultural and religious backgrounds. The school gained Leading Edge Status in September 2004 and has held specialist science school status since 2007.

Ofsted

“Near to West Ham football stadium lies this outstanding school. Students enter Year 7 with slightly below average standards. Students’ achievement is outstanding because GCSE results are very high compared with the national average. In 2007, two students received letters from the examination board congratulating them on being in the top five candidates in their subject nationally. Students from the many ethnic minority backgrounds represented in the school all attain very high results.”
