Job overview
These are truly exciting times for The King’s School Canterbury in China. With a remarkable history dating back to the year 597, The King’s School has continually evolved while maintaining its place at the forefront of global education. Building on the success of our Pre-Prep School (Kindergarten) at King’s School Shenzhen International, which opened in 2019, we proudly expanded with the launch of our purpose-built Prep and Senior School campus in Qianhai in 2022. This milestone marked the next phase of our development—supporting students as they prepare for university and life in an ever-changing world.
As an international school, we remain deeply committed to our responsibilities within China. We aim to ensure that local students develop and sustain a strong Chinese identity while gaining the global perspective and skills necessary to thrive on the international stage.
Our connections with The King’s School in Canterbury is genuine and robust. Regular visits, exchanges, and collaborations between the schools continue to enrich the educational experience across all campuses. We share not only resources and expertise but also a unified educational philosophy that emphasizes academic excellence, a dynamic co-curricular program, and exceptional pastoral care.
Our Qianhai campus can accommodate over 1,000 pupils across Primary and Secondary levels, offering state-of-the-art facilities including a library, health & well-being centre, robotics lab, performance halls, theatre, recording studio, sports hall, swimming pool, martial arts room, outdoor sports areas, and a wide range of specialist classrooms and laboratories. A vibrant five-day-a-week boarding community adds to the richness of school life.
At King’s, we offer a truly holistic education. Our curriculum draws inspiration from both the UK and China, infused with our distinct “King’s twist” that emphasizes breadth, creativity, and communication. With a strong focus on performance, participation, and personal development, our students are challenged to excel academically and beyond—always supported, never overwhelmed.
Student well-being and pastoral care are central to everything we do. Our campus design and daily practices are intentionally crafted to support emotional and social development. The house and tutor system further ensures every student feels known, supported, and connected within the school community.
We are now seeking talented homeroom teachers and subject specialists to join our enthusiastic, committed team across both campuses. We look for educators who believe in our all-round education philosophy—those who are passionate about active, creative, and student-centered learning. Our ideal teachers are not only exceptional in the classroom but also dedicated to supporting each child’s personal journey and contributing to our growing, collaborative community. Joining us at this exciting stage offers a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a school with extraordinary potential.
Shenzhen, China’s fastest-growing and most innovative city, offers a high-quality lifestyle and is an increasingly attractive place to live and work. The city boasts a unique combination of green mountains and beautiful coastlines, alongside vibrant shopping, cultural, and dining scenes. An efficient transport network ensures excellent connectivity to the rest of China and Asia. Our teachers enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package, including a housing allowance, medical insurance, and 100% tuition fee remission for staff children.

Established over 1,400 years ago in the 6th century, The King’s School, Canterbury holds the distinction of being one of England and Europe’s oldest continuously operating schools. Originally affiliated with Canterbury Cathedral, the school still occupies buildings within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Re-founded by King Henry VIII in 1541, it was officially named 'The King’s School'. The school received a new Royal Charter from King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1946.
In 1952, the famous ‘King’s Week’, a festival celebrating music and drama at the end of the summer term, began and has since become a cherished tradition. Evolving to meet modern educational demands, the school opened its International College in 2018 and launched its first stage of the Shenzhen campus in 2019.
The King’s School Canterbury is renowned for its distinguished reputation and outstanding academic results, consistently rated as ‘outstanding’ in independent inspections. Nearly 99% of its graduating class each year secure places at prestigious universities worldwide. The school prioritizes quality over quantity in its overseas branch schools, fostering close connections between Canterbury and its international campuses, as well as among the overseas schools themselves.
The Shenzhen campus, the school’s first overseas venture, maintains a special connection through shared staffing, training, resources, policies, summer programs, inspections, and future exchange opportunities.
Located against the picturesque backdrop of Da NanShan (Nanshan Mountain), our Pre-Prep campus offers expansive outdoor spaces and well-equipped classrooms. Facilities include an excellent library, art maker-space, mindfulness room, large music hall, and indoor play areas. Following the UK’s EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum, our bilingual education approach ensures every class has two teachers—one international and one Chinese—alongside dedicated teaching assistants.
Our main campus, opened in Autumn 2022, is situated 4 kilometers from the Pre-Prep campus and caters specifically to the Prep School (Grades 1-7, UK Years 2-8) and Senior School (Grades 8-12, UK Years 9-13). State-of-the-art in every aspect, it features modern classrooms, specialist laboratories, open learning spaces, indoor and outdoor breakout areas, social hubs, sports facilities, and a vibrant boarding community.
Signature facilities include a library, health & well-being center, robotics lab, performance halls, theatre, recording studio, sports hall, swimming pool, martial arts room, and extensive outdoor sports and play facilities.
Our innovative pedagogy combines best practices from the UK and China, emphasizing academic rigor, breadth, and depth, alongside diverse co-curricular opportunities, all supported by exceptional pastoral care. Senior school students prepare for global university entrance through Cambridge IGCSEs and International A Levels.
