Job overview
The Hemel Hempstead School is seeking a talented and effective Teacher of French or German or Spanish to join our successful Modern Foreign Languages team. The ability to teach a second language, be that French, German or Spanish, to any Key Stage is an advantage. French and German are long established within the curriculum offer and Spanish was introduced in Year 7 in 2021, meaning that the faculty will be teaching all 3 languages at GCSE for the first time in 2024/25. We are proud to have thriving GCSE and A level cohorts and to achieve increasingly excellent results, both in terms of attainment and progress.
We offer an environment with a supportive induction and professional development programme, recognising that our teachers are the reason for our continuing success.
The Hemel Hempstead School is a popular and oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor area. The school is close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. Our GOOD Ofsted inspection in 2022 praised the school, saying, “Pupils at The Hemel Hempstead School get a high-quality education. They develop the knowledge they need to achieve well in all subjects. This is the same for all pupils. Pupils are keen to learn. As a result, they concentrate in lessons. Pupils say that they behave well because they understand what they are learning.’ We have expanded our school, with 217 students in each year group and over 250 students in the Sixth Form. Our facilities are excellent with world-class sporting facilities, a brand-new music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site. In September 2025 we will have a brand-new school building.
The Hemel Hempstead School is proud to work within Scholars’ Education Trust.
