Music Teacher at Novalis Trust

A position has arisen for the role of Music Teacher at Cotswold Chine School, Novalis Trust (ages 7-19) for both suitably qualified teachers and/or ECTs.

We are a supportive team who welcome teachers from all backgrounds and levels of experience looking to begin a career in special educational needs teaching. We specialise in trauma-informed, attachment-focused relationship based, therapeutic approach to teaching.

We have a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic music teacher to deliver and develop our Music curriculum. Our students love music and we are keen to find the right person who can support them to develop their strengths in Music, achieving accreditations and supporting them to grow in confidence as performers. The right candidate will work with individuals, small groups and classes to make progress towards the national curriculum whilst adapting their day-to-day teaching according to the students identified barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities include:

- Support us to increase and improve our ability to help pupils work towards the national curriculum and accreditations

- Support a music curriculum that fosters creativity, fun and progress for our pupils

- To support pupils to run performances and perform at key events throughout the academic calendar

You will need to

- Have excellent music and IT skills

- Be prepared to work towards the national curriculum expectations whilst adapting to pupils barriers and strengths

- Good curriculum knowledge

- Be prepared to engage in internal and external training as suggested by the Headteacher

- Be prepared to engage with and support the schools ethos and model of approach

Experience in special needs is not essential as training will be provided. The ability to form relationships with young people, reliability, resilience, and a flexible approach to working with others are important.

Starting Salary £28,300 (ECT). Teachers with relevant experience will be placed at the appropriate level of the pay scale.

From 1st April 2023, we have a new employee welcome bonus where you could earn an additional £600 in the first year, with payments made between 6 weeks and 1 year (subject to the normal PAYE deductions)
