Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding college specialising in 16-19 education, we have an exciting opportunity for a Music Teacher to join our team. There are exciting times ahead for the college as we have recently become a founding member of The Coastal Collaborative Trust.  This position, commencing as soon as possible, is 0.6fte and fixed-term for the academic year 2024/25. The position is well suited to you if you are either looking for the first steps into teaching or if you are looking to advance an already established career in a thriving and supportive workplace. 


Based in Performing Arts, Music and Media (PAMM) you will work closely with others in the department to support your students to achieve their ambitions. This is a thriving, diverse and vibrant department which boasts courses in; media, film, music, drama, musical theatre, performing arts and dance. The department generates a production calendar that showcases a number of large-scale, sell out, productions across the year, as well as numerous mini-performances. With a 300 seat professional standard theatre, the team work tirelessly to offer opportunities for students to flourish and develop their skills and experience.   


A day in PAMM could see you: 

  • working collaboratively with others in the department on teaching, learning and assessment
  • inspiring students to develop their knowledge of music
  • working with students on live productions 
  • using new technologies to plan, prepare and teach

We are a high-achieving sixth form, giving our students an excellent springboard to success. We educate the whole student, providing all with excellent teaching and opportunities for growth and personal development. We are recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding sixth form. We are relatively small in size, with just over 2000 students and approximately 200 staff. This means that we are a close and caring community.

All new staff are offered a thorough induction program; this is supplemented for Newly Qualified Teachers with a comprehensive series of training sessions throughout the academic year. All new staff are allocated a mentor in their probationary year, they are here to offer support and guidance in your new role.It's not just teachers that we develop, both teaching and support staff are involved in an annual programme of staff development, supported by individual performance management reviews and training and development plans.

On top of the internal opportunities staff now also benefit from a wider programme of Continuing Professional Development events which come from being part of the Teaching School Alliance, these include nationally accredited programmes.
