Rainbow International School is a coeducational 2 – 18 years day and boarding school in Kampala, Uganda. As the most established, reputable and largest International school in the country, we deliver the EYFS and IPC curricula in the Primary section, English National curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Cambridge IGCSE and Advanced Level in Key Stages 4 and 5. We also offer BTEC Level 3 courses as an alternative pathway to University.

 

The Post:

We are seeking a young, dynamic, motivated qualified Music teacher (with B. Ed or PGDE/PGCE) who is able to provide group music lessons within a classroom setting to our Primary students (3 - 11 years). The successful candidate will be joining an established, busy and vibrant Performing Arts department. The ability to teach the theory of music as well as having a balance of playing classical and contemporary music instruments is essential. Previous experience in an International school is an advantage. Knowledge of woodwind or strings is an added advantage.

 

Experience:

  • Be a qualified Music Teacher and have a thorough knowledge of Primary Music (English National Curriculum)
  • Should have a minimum of three years teaching experience, after acquiring a teaching degree/PGCE/PGDE/QTS, in the UK or overseas in a British curriculum school
  • The ability to teach the theory of music as well as having a balance of playing classical and contemporary music instruments is essential
  • Knowledge of woodwind or strings is an added advantage
  • Have an advanced ability to play several musical instruments
  • Be willing and able to offer other subjects in addition to your specialist area should the need arise
  • Be willing to take on opportunities to teach some lessons in other sections of the school should the opportunity arise
  • Experience of working in an International school
  • Have an advanced ability to use ICT to support and enhance learning in the classroom/your lessons
  • Be able to engage, motivate and support children, colleagues and parents
  • A working knowledge of Google Apps
  • Experience of being fully involved in different after school extra-curricular activities
  • Should be professional both in conduct and appearance and fully committed to the life of the school (including school events onsite and offsite)

 

Qualifications:

  • Either Bachelor of Education in Music
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in Music + Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Education (PGDE/PGCE) in Music
