Tenure: Casual, Part-time
Monday to Thursday; 4:30pm – 6:00pm (6 hours per week)
Potential additional hours working with elite student athletes
Salary: Competitive

Surbiton High School is a lively, energetic, independent girls’ day school in Surbiton. The Netball Programme aims to deliver an environment where pupils can foster a lifelong love of Netball. The School achieves annually at Borough, County, Regional and National level. And numerous pupils represent at County and Regional level through the support offered in our Netball Programme.
The successful applicant will have participated or coached at a high level and have experience in coaching young people. The role will demand excellent planning, time management, communication and administrative skills, and an ability to work within a strong team environment. This role will require confidence and creativity in managing a large squad of varying abilities in changeable conditions at training sessions and events.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide high quality and enjoyable netball coaching sessions.
- To increase the number of pupils playing netball.
- To improve the performance of the school’s netball teams through coaching sessions, fixtures, and tournaments.
- To support the Head of Netball and manage the associated paperwork of netball teams, including:
- Communicating with players regarding fixtures.
- Updating School Sports with registers and team sheets.
- To liaise and communicate with parents and manage their expectations.
- To uphold the School’s code of conduct and the values of Surbiton High School.
- To conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, supporting and fostering the aims and safeguarding policies of the school.
- To carry out any such duties as may be reasonably requested.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be likely to fit the following profile:
Qualifications
- Experienced netball coach
- GCSE in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) is essential
Skills
- The ability to inspire, motivate and support pupils and colleagues in a successful and dynamic school.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and ICT skills
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
Experience
- Level 1 or Level 2 Netball Coaching qualification is desirable, but previous coaching/playing experience will be taken into consideration in lieu of this
- A proven track record of demonstrable training and coaching success
- Evidence of successful, inspiring, and innovative coaching at all levels in an educational setting would be preferable
- Experience of collaborating with colleagues
Knowledge
- Up-to-date knowledge of netball technique, strength and conditioning

- High levels of personal and professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Personal warmth to gain the confidence of pupils, staff and parents
- Positive rapport with pupils
- High standards of personal presence and presentation and attention to detail
