Job overview

46 Weeks per Year (Term Time Considered)

Ripley Court School is a popular, independent, co-educational preparatory school for 180 children aged 3-11. Set in 19 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside including extensive playing fields and a Forest School, Ripley Court School celebrated its 130th anniversary this year. The School merged with Reed’s School in Cobham in November 2019 and the Schools share a philosophy of education which focusses on developing the whole child within a nurturing environment.

The role-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Nursery at Ripley Court, and for ensuring that nursery life is safe, stimulating and compliant with EYFS and safeguarding requirements.

A key part of this role will be to devise and implement strategy, keeping up-to-date with the EYFS and other curriculum requirements and managing the Nursery budget. This role will report into the Head of EYFS and KS1.

This role will be based at Ripley Court School. Working 46 weeks of the year, the role holder will perform administrative duties during the holiday periods, with the potential to support the running of a 46 week a year Nursery in due course. Term time only applications will also be considered for this role.

For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete a Reed’s and Ripley Court Schools application form. Applicants are also welcome to submit supporting documents if desired.

Full details including a job description and application form can be found on our website or alternatively by emailing hr@reeds.surrey.sch.uk.

Closing date: Midday, Friday 02 February 2024

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Reed’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Ripley Court is a fully co-educational school for 3 -11 year olds set in 20 beautiful acres just minutes from the A3 and equidistant from Cobham, Weybridge, Woking and Guildford. Ripley Court has for years been preparing children for entry to top independent schools. Its secret for success is to combine strong academic rigor with important but less-measurable values in life, such as kindness, respect, gentleness, and fun. The school has excellent performances in exams, senior school entries and scholarships as well as success in sports, music and art. Such achievements are important but each child’s happiness and well-being is valued more. Past pupils of all generations speak of a wonderful childhood at Ripley, being outdoors and having time to be children, but at the same time achieving highly in life.

Reed's School and Ripley Court School are committed to being a successful, caring and welcoming place for all employees. We want to create a supportive and inclusive environment where our employees can reach their full potential, without prejudice and discrimination. We are committed to a culture where respect and understanding is fostered and the diversity of people's backgrounds and circumstances will be positively valued.
