This is an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified, inspiring teacher to join our highly successful Fashion and Textiles department.
Fine Arts College specialises in the Arts and Humanities, with a distinctive ethos and enviable reputation for excellence in academic and creative subjects, as well as in pastoral work. We encourage an atmosphere of mutual respect in which individual talents and ambitions are supported and helped to develop. We have around 60 students in Years 9, 10 & 11 and 180 students in the Sixth Form.
We are looking for a textiles specialist and who is experienced in the full range of textile applications. The successful candidate will teach across both A level year groups to the Eduqas Art & Design specification. Students are encouraged to explore all aspects of textiles and fashion so the candidate must have good curriculum knowledge and outstanding practical skills, including construction of garments and the use of the sewing machine for embellishment in free-machine embroidery and other applications including weaving. Experience of team-teaching is useful, as it is the established method of teaching in the department.
Students at Fine Arts are ambitious and regularly progress to the degree and foundation course of their choice at universities including Central St Martins, London College of Fashion and Kingston. Supporting the application process and the creation of the portfolio is an integral part of the course.
