Job overview

We are Framlingham College Prep School, a co-educational day and boarding school (2 – 13) found in the most outstanding rural location in Suffolk. Lots of schools say such a thing, but it would be a challenge to find a more picturesque rural setting for children to grow up in. We are set on a historic estate in the countryside a few miles away from Framingham College Senior School, so we look and feel like a stand-alone independent prep school, but we are a through school to Framlingham College Senior School.

We offer a seamless transition up – and our own innovative curriculum – or we can prepare the pupils for some of the most notable senior schools in the country. We are known as a school which adapts and responds to the individual child. We accept them for who they are, find out what makes them tick and encourage them to try new things, be ambitious, and find their passions.

The education on offer here is outstanding and requires energy and optimism from our staff. It is a friendly and stimulating environment to work in within a really supportive community.

We require a friendly and approachable School Receptionist to cover the busy front desk at our Prep school. As well as reception duties, welcoming visitors and assisting parents and pupils, you will be expected to work as part of the office team and carry out general day to day admin duties. You must have a flexible approach and be able to cope in a busy and varied environment.

The post is offered on a part-time basis, working Monday 8:00am – 5:30pm for 33 weeks of the year, the remaining 19 weeks are made up of a combination of paid holiday and unpaid leave. Holiday must be taken outside of your working weeks. Additional hours may be available and can be discussed at interview.

The salary for the role will be £3,906 based on an hourly rate of £12.65 per hour.

We offer a supportive working environment as well as free lunch each day the kitchen is operational. We also offer a number of other benefits including contributory pension scheme and complimentary gym membership.

Should you have any questions or queries, please contact the HR Department on 01728 723789 or email hr@framlinghamcollege.co.uk

'Where every pupil creates their own story' - Rated 'Excellent' (ISI Inspection 2022)

Framlingham College is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3-18 which offers flexible and full boarding options.

This is a school that is interested in the development of the whole person as well as the examination candidate, and we encourage our pupils to open their minds, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the opportunities available to them. The College has a fine record in stretching the most able pupils, and we know that the bright child will do as well here as they will anywhere else, while our ‘value-added’ rating for those pupils who are not automatically destined to achieve A grades at GCSE and A Level stands alongside the very best in the country. Individual programmes of study provide each pupil with the knowledge and expertise to realise their full academic and personal potential, and the majority of our leavers go on to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. What is certain is that all pupils can be assured of the highest professional quality of provision and individual care in all areas of school life, whatever their strengths or interests.

Framlinghamians leave here with a strong sense of self and a keen awareness of - and sensitivity to - the world around them. The adult world that they will be entering will be a very different one from a generation ago, and we want our pupils to leave here excited – rather than daunted – by the challenges that it will hold.

The College (both Senior and Prep Schools) was rated 'Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2022. To view the Inspection Reports in full as well as an Executive Summary of feedback, visit: https://www.framlinghamcollege.co.uk/inspection.
