The BOA Group is a Multi-Academy Trust of specialist academies located in Birmingham city centre, in the hub of the creative and digital industries. Though based in Birmingham, the academies recruit from across the wider Midlands region.
BOA Digital Technologies, a brand-new 11 -18 Free school, welcomed its first cohort of year 7 students in September 2022. We now have each of years 7 -9 at capacity and from September 2025, our first cohort of students will move into Key Stage 4. Our vision is to offer a truly unique and distinctive education and provide a new model of teaching underpinned by digital skills and learning. Located in the heart of Birmingham’s growing technology and digital hub, close to industrial and academic partners, and with first class facilities, BOA Digital is looking to meet the U.K.’s growing need for a high -class digital workforce.
BOA Digital is unique. We attract students from the entire West Midlands and the profile of our students reflects the city of Birmingham. In particular, well over 50% of our students in the Academy are Pupil Premium.
This is a new role to the school and will work alongside our current pastoral manager. Our first cohort of children are to start soon the process of selecting GCSE subjects and the appointed candidate will work closely within the year group. Given the significant milestone of children starting their GCSE studies in September, we are seeking to appoint an experienced confident and enthusiastic Head of Year (pastoral manager). Reporting to an assistant principal, the person appointed will focus on children transitioning to KS4, and those who attract pupil premium funding.
A full induction package and CPD opportunities are offered to help develop your practice.
We are looking for someone with:
- A strong track record in pastoral support.
- A good understanding of the importance of student welfare and safeguarding as well as the systems in place to support this.
- Good administrative /clerical skills, particularly providing support in the preparation for and attendance of meetings, including taking and disseminating minutes.
- Excellent diary management skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build rapport, trust and confidence with pupils and their parents /carers and other internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work in collaboration with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of pastoral support.
- Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills.
- Skills and knowledge of using Microsoft office and MI systems to record and access pupil data.
- Presence, enthusiasm, good sense of humour, and approachability
- An excellent record of punctuality
This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the future of education within a world class Academy. If you share the academy’s vision and ambitions, possess a strong desire to work within an ethos of creative collaboration and partnership, and want to have a positive impact on young people, families and the community. Then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Closing date for applications is: Monday 16th December at 12pm
Interviews: Wednesday 18th December
