Ashfield School is renowned for high standards of teaching, behaviour and academic achievement. One of the largest schools in England (2700 on role), staff work together each day to support, inspire and challenge students to give their best in our safe, happy and ambitious working environment.

Ashfield School is a great place to work and as part of the DFE school re-building project we will move into brand new buildings over the next few years. We are located close to the A38 and M1 and there is a large free staff car park. Facilities across the large school site are excellent with numerous social and workspaces, staff specific catering and sporting facilities all available.

The 650 strong 6th form has an excellent reputation in the local area and recruits students from many local schools. Based in its own purpose-built building on the school site, it is a supportive and positive environment for staff and students alike.

The role:

Ashfield School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic candidate for the post of Pastoral Support Officer to join an established and effective pastoral team in Post 16.

This post will play an integral part in ensuring the students meet targets and progress to their potential.

This role involves providing support for Post 16 Heads of Year in pastoral matters and in particular attendance, student support, safeguarding and parental engagement.



The person:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working of mentoring, coaching or working with young people, and experience of successfully working with young people giving pastoral support. We are looking for someone who has the courage to challenge students to be their best and support in removing barriers to learning to ensure they reach their full potential.

Ashfield School is the largest single site 11-18 secondary school in the country (NOR 2,700). Our extensive and inclusive seven-year curriculum is housed in state of the art facilities including a separate, purpose built Post 16 Centre, a tiered theatre, a swimming pool, drama and dance studios, catering kitchen, construction centre, hair and beauty studios and a 400 metre fully equipped athletics track.

Ashfield School has earned a succession of very strong ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding features’ Ofsted judgements and we continue to go from strength the strength in terms of our reputation and student numbers.
