Job Title:     Pastoral Support Worker

Location:      Longdon Park School, Egginton, DE65 6GU

Salary:       £19,800 per annum

Hours:           37.5 hours per week, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 8.00-16.00 & Wed 8.00-17.00

Contract:        Permanent, Term time only

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Pastoral Support Worker to join our fantastic team at Longon Park School. 

About the role

This is a great opportunity for a Pastoral Support Worker who wants to support pupils with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide support, encouragement and pastoral care to pupils at the school and take an active role in the de-escalation of conflict. 
  • Work with a range of stakeholders, parent/carers, support staff, outreach agencies and other schools to ensure the continuity, development and progress of individual pupils, especially with regard to low self-esteem and poor attendance. 

Essential:

  • Experience of working with pupils with SEN
  • The post holder will undertake a variety of advanced tasks that require detailed knowledge and skills, including caring, communication and interpersonal skills, behaviour management, and child protection issues. 
  • To work well as part of a team
  • To be positive and enthusiastic
  • To be sympathetic to the needs of others

About us

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015.  We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Longdon Park is going through an exciting period of growth which is why this position is now available.
