The role
The Payroll SME is responsible for the delivery of high-quality fortnightly payroll for 11,000 employees ensuring accurate processing of salaries in a time-sensitive manner. In this role you will work in a supportive, collaborative and close-knit team environment.
Reporting to the Specialist: Payroll Operations, you will be responsible for:
- updating employee data, position changes, terminations and resignations
- high-level leave management
- responding to enquiries via the ticketing system (ServiceNow)
- escalation point for payroll enquiries.

The Person
As the Payroll Officer (SME), you will be able to demonstrate;
- proven track record in large volume payroll, of at least 1,000 employees +
- experience in a complex Award / EA interpretation
- an ability to work independently and be self motivated
- proven ability to investigate issues, find solutions and articulate response
- high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- a strong working knowledge of HRIS, Microsoft Office, Excel and Google suite is paramount.
- experience with the PeopleSoft system and working in Education is highly desirable.
- APA or TAPS certification is highly desirable.
