Job overview

The Perse School (Singapore) is looking to appoint a PE, Games and Outdoor Pursuits Teacher to start in January 2025. The successful candidate will have a clear passion for all aspects of sport and outdoor pursuits.

The Perse recognises the importance of pastoral care and a vibrant programme of extra-curricular activities in developing happy, well rounded and successful young people. The Perse believes that excellent schools need great teaching and support staff, who whilst operating within agreed school policies and to high standards of performance are given encouragement to innovate in pursuit of professional excellence. The result is a vibrant community of staff who spark off one another, share ideas, and come together to help pupils thrive academically, pastorally and in extra-curricular areas.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop and shape the sports and outdoor pursuits programme initially in the Pelican and Junior School, with further opportunities for development as the school expands into the Senior School.

The sports programme has a strong focus on athletic development and the health benefits of being active. Activities such as gymnastics, dance, athletics, badminton and volleyball are taught across the year groups and the games programme provides training and competitive opportunities for sports such as football, touch rugby and netball.

The outdoor pursuits programme has a long history at The Perse School, beginning with the 5th Cambridge Scout Group, not taking part as the Perse Exploration Society. We value endeavour, intellectual curiosity, breadth and balance and valuing one another and the environment, which are all central to membership of the Exploration Society. Our activities will put these values to the test and reinforce them, whether students are in training or on an expedition. The structure builds challenge step by step: students learn bushcraft, canoeing, climbing, and expedition skills.
