Position: Personal Development Teacher
Responsible for: PSHE, RSE, Careers, and Preparation for Adulthood
Location: Sutherland House School, Bath Street, NG1 1DA
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Personal Development Teacher to lead our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), Careers education, and Preparation for Adulthood programs. The ideal candidate will inspire and support students to develop essential life skills and prepare them for the future.
Key Responsibilities
PSHE and RSE
- Develop and deliver engaging and inclusive PSHE and RSE curriculum tailored to the needs of all students.
- Ensure the curriculum aligns with statutory requirements and best practices.
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable discussing sensitive topics.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PSHE and RSE themes across the wider curriculum.
Careers Education
- Provide comprehensive careers education, information, advice, and guidance to students.
- Organize career fairs, workshops, and guest speaker events.
- Develop partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and universities to enhance career opportunities for students.
- Support students in creating and maintaining personal career development plans.
Preparation for Adulthood
- Design and implement programs that equip students with essential skills for adulthood, including financial literacy, independent living, and employability skills.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students' transition to adulthood.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of preparation for adulthood programs, making adjustments as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in teaching PSHE, RSE, Careers, and/or Preparation for Adulthood.
- Strong understanding of the statutory requirements for PSHE and RSE.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting
