Sri KDU International School Subang Jaya is located in the outskirts of the safe, modern and vibrant capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are a growing FOBISIA and COBIS associate member school, in our seventh academic year, and we are looking for both an enthusiastic and creative for a Physical Education Teacher in August 2024 start.

As a Teacher of Physical Education, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all aspects of the Sri KDU global teaching standards are translated into daily classroom practice. You are expected to create an environment where every student assigned to you feels valued and empowered.


Additional Responsibilities for Physical Education:

Teach Physical Education to children in the age range of EYFS (Early Years Foundation 

Stage) to Year 13, ensuring that the curriculum aligns with the development stages of the students.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for physical education that accommodates 
  • the diverse abilities and needs of all students, including those with special requirements.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that promotes physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Encourage students to participate in a variety of physical activities, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • Organise and oversee sporting events, competitions, and tournaments within the
  • school, helping to create a culture of competitiveness and sportsmanship.
  • Identify and nurture students' athletic talents and interests, providing opportunities for them to excel in various sports.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate physical education into co-curricular activities, emphasising the importance of physical health and well-being.
  • Participate in coaching and mentoring students in various sports teams, helping them to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
  • Promote an understanding of the benefits of sports and physical activity, both within the school community and beyond, including through community engagement and partnerships.


Accountability:

As a Sri KDU Teacher, you are accountable for the following:

  • The level of achievement for students assigned, including their physical fitness and sports abilities.
  • Providing evidence of progress of your students in physical education.
  • Development of Sri KDU priorities related to physical education and sports programs.


Planning & Preparation:

  • In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the previous section, as a Sri KDU Teacher of Physical Education, you will:
  • Plan lessons that cater to the developmental stages of students from EYFS to Year 13.
  • Create a curriculum that addresses the physical needs and abilities of all students, including those with disabilities.
  • Plan sports and physical activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and healthy
  • competition.
  • Develop inclusive units that encourage all students to participate and excel in physical education.


Teaching & Learning:

As a Teacher of Physical Education, you will:

  • Use a range of teaching strategies that motivate and engage students in physical activities.
  • Group students effectively for various sports and activities, differentiating instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Build on students' existing physical skills and abilities.
  • Use various resources to expose students to a wide range of sports and physical activities.
  • Empower students to take responsibility for their physical health and well-being.
  • Involve students actively in their physical education, promoting self-discipline and healthy lifestyles.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in physical education and sports to provide students with the best learning experiences.


Assessment:

In the context of Physical Education, you will:

  • Assess students' physical fitness, skills, and sportsmanship as part of the evaluation process.
  • Use various recording and reporting strategies to communicate students' progress in physical education.
  • Involve students in self-assessment and reflection on their physical development.
  • Collaboratively evaluate the effectiveness of the physical education program and make necessary improvements.
  • Ensure that students recognize assessment as a means to describe their physical development and set personal goals for improvement.


Professional Development & Performance Management: 

As a Teacher of Physical Education, you are expected to:

  • Set professional goals related to physical education and sports.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio of professional development impacting the standards of physical education and sports.
  • Provide evidence of regular reflection on the success of planning, teaching, and assessments developed in physical education.
  • Participate actively in the performance management process related to physical education and sports.


Other Professional Standards: 

In addition to the standards mentioned in the previous section, you are expected to

demonstrate:

  • A strong working knowledge and understanding of physical education and sports programs.
  • A commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to excel in physical education and sports.
  • Collaboration with colleagues to integrate physical education into cross-curricular activities.
  • Active participation in coaching and mentoring students in sports teams.
  • The ability to promote the benefits of sports and physical activity, both within the  school community and in the wider community.
  • A commitment to developing a culture of competitiveness and sportsmanship within the school.
  • Engagement in community outreach and partnerships to promote physical health and well-being.
