The Physical Education Department at the British International School of Houston is a whole school department, providing a high quality PE program for students aged 3 to 18 years old. State of the art facilities include two full size gymnasiums, swimming pool, athletics track, Astro Turf and grass fields.

Roles and Responsibilities
Wellbeing
- A commitment to student wellbeing.

- Work with key school leaders and HR Colleagues to ensure that HR policies and the NAE Code of Conduct are adhered to.

- Sets high expectations for students; inspiring, motivating and challenging students to achieve excellent progress and ambitious outcomes.

Teaching and Learning
- Has experience and the skills to deliver high quality teaching of Physical Education across a range of phases (3-18).
- Has experience teaching swim.
- Engages and challenges student learning through questioning and discussion techniques and proven-pedagogical strategies.
- Creates a culture of learning and manages student behaviour to ensure an environment of respect and collaboration.
- Participates in all aspects of our learning programme, in line with school policy that assists in growing the school and are linked to the agreed learning programme.
Planning and Preparation
- Sets clear learning intentions and educational outcomes.
- Designs lesson plans, activities and assessments that are aligned to the school’s curriculum and that engage students.
- Conceptualises, plans and teaches well-structured lessons and programmes that engage, inspire and stretch students; encouraging them to be ambitious
Coaching
- Lead/contribute towards coaching in the school’s Athletics Programme. This programme includes: Junior Bulldogs (Years 3-6), Middle School Teams (Years 7-9) and High School (Varsity/Junior Varsity). Athletics runs across the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Teaching Qualification (PGCE/Qualified Teacher Status)
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience in Physical Education.
- Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures
- Excellent analytical skills - with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing wit mult-functional tasks.
