Permanent, Full-Time, Term-Time Plus 2 Weeks

Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1550 pupils including over one hundred boarding pupils and flexi boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

We are seeking to appoint a Physics Technician who will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning of science subjects within the thriving Science Department at Whitgift School. The successful applicant will work alongside the existing Science technicians to provide exceptional laboratory support for the teaching of IGCSE, International Baccalaureate (IB) and A-Level science subjects together with other duties within the Department. You will work alongside the Senior Physics Technician, Team Leader Technician, Head of Physics, and the Head of Science.  We are looking to work with the ASE to qualify all technicians at their appropriate level. Prior experience as a school Science Technician, knowledge of laboratory procedures and familiarity with laboratory equipment commonly used in Physics teaching is key.

The salary range for this post will be Point 24-26 on the Whitgift Foundation Support Staff Salary Scale. The full-time salary will be between £36,953 per annum (at Point 24) to £39,201 (Point 26) depending on qualifications and relevant experience. The Pro-rata salary range for this post will be £30,983 per annum to £32,868 per annum to reflect Term Time plus two weeks only (September 2024).

The start date for this post is October 2024, however, if possible, we hope to recruit to accommodate an earlier start date.
