The school is looking to appoint a well-qualified, energetic Classroom Teacher , with a Key stage Lead responsibility (Key Stage 1) for August 2025.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  •   To embed a broad and relevant curriculum promoting the development of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills.
  • To ensure that the curriculum is in line with relevant territory needs.
  • To liaise with other Key Stage Leads and the Deputy Head Academic to maximise opportunities for cross-curricular teaching.
  • To liaise with the Deputy Head Pastoral on the delivery of the PSHE and pastoral curriculum.
  • To proactively lead the Safeguarding of the assigned Key Stage working closely with the Deputy Head Pastoral to ensure Brighton College (Singapore) is demonstrating a ‘best practice’ approach to safeguarding.
  • To proactively lead the teaching and learning of the assigned Key Stage.
  •  To liaise with the Head of EAL and Head of PCP to embed appropriate support for groups of learners is in place. 
  • To share effective teaching strategies within the Key Stage.
  •  To instil consistency in the approach to marking and feedback within the department, in line with the school-wide policy.
  •  To ensure that high-quality planning is in place for all year groups.
  • To manage and oversee setting where appropriate.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with the Key Stage leads in the Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior School and across the network of Brighton College International schools.
  • To promote digital learning in the department.
  •  To provide a departmental enrichment programme e.g. challenge weeks, academic competitions, external speakers, educational trips and visits.
  • To ensure the department supports pupils’ physical and mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Assessment and Reporting:

  •  To create, share and oversee department mark books.
  • To schedule termly moderation and book look opportunities.
  • To write, administer and oversee year group assessments.
  •  To analyse termly and annual data on a school-wide, cohort and class level and create an action plan.
  • To monitor the progress and value-added data of specific groups of children e.g. SEN, EAL and G&T.
  • To use assessment data to inform future learning, planning and curriculum content.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of data and consider attainment, progress and value-added for all pupils.
  • To liaise with the Deputy Head Academic on admissions, particularly admissions tests.

Professional Development:

  • To stay abreast of new educational initiatives and communicate this widely to your staff.
  • To encourage innovation in the Key Stage to ensure Brighton College (Singapore) is demonstrating a ‘best practice’ approach.
  • To participate in regular learning walks.
  •  To participate in cluster group meetings across the BCI network.
  • To lead sessions during INSET and staff meetings, sharing updates and progress made.
  • To deliver sessions for parents as required.
  • To take part in the appraisal process as required by the Prep School SLT.

Administration:

  •  To submit and control a departmental budget covering the ordering and restocking of digital and physical learning resources, stationery and professional development.
  • To lead the delivery of internal and external assessments and ensure the successful implementation of these as per our assessment schedule.
  • To organise and chair regular Key Stage meetings, creating an agenda and sharing minutes with the Pre Pre/ Prep school SLT.
  • To take responsibility for a shared site on the staff online platform (e.g. Sharepoint/Teams) where all documentation, planning and helpful resource are stored.
  • To maintain information and recommendations from Cognita/BCI reviews and learning walks and to lead recommended improvements as guided by the Pre Pre/ Prep school SLT.  
  •  To contribute to the school marketing material as required by the Pre Pre/ Prep School SLT.
  • To take responsibility for classroom and Key Stage displays as directed by the Pre Pre/ Prep School SLT.
  • To prepare inspection-ready documentation including:
  • Key Stage handbook/homework policy
  • Key Stage development plan
  • Key Stage curriculum overview
  • Key Stage assessment and reporting overview and reporting to stakeholders
  • Data analysis and narrative, including monitoring the progress and value-added data of specific groups of children e.g. SEN, EAL and G&T.
  • Key Stage meeting agendas, actions and minutes

In August 2020 Brighton College opened the doors of its fifth sister school in Singapore, one of South East Asia’s most vibrant and successful cities.

The school is a collaboration between Brighton College - the UK’s top co-educational school, awarded The Sunday Times Independent School of the Year 2019 and 2021, and School of Decade 2010-2020 and Cognita – an educational group with schools around the globe that  embraces and embeds best practice from a variety of world curricula.

Brighton College (Singapore) comprises of a Pre-Prep (located in a purpose-built ‘Early Learning Village’) for children aged 18 months to 6 years a Prep School for children aged 6 to 11 years and Senior School which is currently open to pupils in Year 7 - 9 and will be opening to Year 10 in  August 2025. Further year groups will be opened in subsequent years, so that Senior pupils at Brighton College (Singapore) will pursue IGCSEs and A-levels.

The College aims to provide an inspiring education that prepares pupils for life in our school and beyond. We deliver the Brighton College Curriculum, incorporating the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage and English National Curriculum, together with a rich co-curricular programme.
